Hopes for a Better Photo Album

As I was going through my memory as to what I have still on my digital camera, I remembered that I wanted to re-build the Photo Album section of my website. Not necessarily something that you would notice visually, but where I would only have to upload the original photos into a folder and one page with a small script on it. Everything else would be dynamic (thumbnails, enlargement window, maybe even comments). I found a tutorial to get it started, it’s just a matter of getting it done. Besides, there are only images from a brief weekend in Orlando and even less from a Labor Day bbq at Juan Ribero’s house.

AMF Youth Pines State Tournament

This past weekend I went on a little trip with the AMF Pines Youth Bowling League to the annual state tournament held at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando. We stayed at the Clarion Resort and Water Park in Kissimmee. The event had been held at the same place last year (which I heard was a first) so we got to stay at the same hotel as well. But this year it was more of a real water park since last year the only thing finished was one pool. We all had fun, the kids did well, and next year I get to plan it all for when we go to Port St Lucie. The hotel, auto show, and Sunday photos are seen here.

New Camera – Two Parties

It never fails, when it rains – it pours. Two weeks ago I finally purchased a second digital camera; I wanted something smaller than the Olympus which I have had for years. I plan to keep it, if only for its large 8X optical zoom. But that is the reason I got this new Kodak M863: smaller optical zoom (3X) allows for a pocketsize camera. And low-and-behold the following weekend I had two different parties to attend to: one for Misty’s graduation reception at her mother’s house, and then Juan’s house-warming party. And even though I got a free 1 GB memory card, I only took about a dozens photos total.

The Truth of Turning 31

Well, it’s been 10 days since I turned 31, and to tell the truth, it is no different than 30. The one that has changed is that my friends list has gotten a bit longer. That is evident by how many people showed up to my dinner on my birthday. Also, as you may have noticed when you first brought up this page, is the background is dramatically different; this is a part of my effort to streamline the site, and also tweak the look at the same time. I still want to make the palm tree look more like a palm tree, and the sand, water, and sky as well. Just need to dedicate the time to it.

First Trip to Kegel Training Center

Just got back last night from a small field trip to Kegel Training & Tournament Center in Lake Wales, FL. About a dozen of us from the Youth Bowling League at AMF Pembroke Pines where I coach traveled up there Friday a day and a half training session with the instructors there. Each lane has sensors at five points down the lane that measure ball speed, rotation, and position, so after each ball thrown you see numerically what the ball did along with a line chart; and then after ten balls you can get a printout showing how consistant (or in-) you are. Saturday focused on one-on-one sessions with an instructor which utilized video cameras. Unbelievable learning experience, not for the dozen of us there (coaches and kids) but also changed my mythodology and approach to bowling and coaching. For years, everyone was told “Keep your body upright and shoulders square to the target.” Gone is that thinking. If I can get a clip from the DVD that was to us with my individual training session, I will post it somewhere. Probably right next to the David Hasselhoff “Hooked on a Feeling” video I got from youtube.
